What Kind of Church Is This?
Welcome
Macomb Christian Church
is a unique community that God is raising up to be a standard bearer for
Christian unity, sincere love, and genuine acceptance; all of which are
maintained with biblical integrity. Here, you will not find a church dedicated to a list of denominational distinctives, but you will find a group of people who, like
yourself, are in need of a Savior, a Healer, and a Redeemer. You will not find a community of people
dedicated to an organization, or to buildings and programs, but you will find a
living organism whose members are real, and offer authentic care, concern and
hope. As you spend time with us on
Sundays, and as you read through this short brochure, may you catch the spirit
of what we, as a church, are trying to accomplish.
What We Believe
People are forever asking,
"Can we see a copy of your Statement of Faith?" Well, that's difficult for us to do because
we believe that the Bible, as a whole, is our statement of faith. The apostle Paul wrote, "For everything that was written
in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the
encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope." You see the Bible, as a whole, can be defined
as:
B asic
I nstructions
B efore
L eaving
E arth
But in an attempt to answer some of your basic questions,
let me list a few basic doctrines as found in Scripture...
...That Jesus Christ
is the one and only Son of God who died for our sins and arose from the dead.
1 Corinthians 15:1-8
...That the Bible is
the inspired Word of God. 2 Timothy 3:16
...That every person
has worth as a creation of God, but that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:2
...That forgiveness
of sins and the promise of eternal life are available to those who trust Christ
as Savior and Lord. John 3:16
...That those
accepting Christ should repent of their sins, confess their faith, and be
baptized.
Romans 10:9/Acts 2:38
...That the church is
the body of Christ on earth, and exists to save the lost and edify the saved. Ephesians 4:1-16
...That Jesus Christ
will one day return to earth and reign forever as King of kings and Lord of
lords.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
Our
Mission
Macomb Christian Church exists to introduce all people to
Jesus Christ and to nurture that relationship through meaningful worship
experiences, Bible studies, and other activities resulting in a deeper
relationship with God and others.
Our
Vision
We will continue to aggressively pursue our mission, and
passionately present the teachings of Scripture, and lovingly display the grace
of God, until the whole world knows of Jesus and His love.
Our
Invitation To You
Becoming a vital part of this community, in membership,
requires that you be faithful to Scripture in three specific areas:
First, you
must be a Christian. That you
believe Jesus is the Son of God, perfect and without sin, and the Savior of the
world (Romans 10:9,10). And that you have been obedient to the
commands to be born again into Christ (Acts 2:38).
Second,
you must be willing to support the mission of this church which
involves: being willing to follow the direction of our staff and elders;
regular participation in services and activities; giving of your time, talent
and treasures; and being active in an area of ministry that uses your gifts and
talents. Paul wrote, "From Him the
whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and
builds itself up in love, as each part does its work." (Ephesians
4:16)
And third,
you need to respond publicly. Jesus said, "If you confess
me before men, I will confess you before My Father who is in heaven." Typically, on Sunday morning following the
sermon, we sing a song of invitation. People who wish to become Christians, accept Christ as their personal Lord
and Savior, be baptized, or place membership with the church simply come
forward as we sing. There you will be greeted by our pastor and counselors from
among the body. By coming forward you
are literally making a public declaration of your faith in Jesus.
Our Wholehearted Commitment
It's been said, "Promises
are easily made, and easily broken." And though we can't promise you much, we do make a wholehearted
commitment to you in no less than four areas.
First, we
commit to you that we will never knowingly violate the teachings and principles
of Scripture. As Thomas Campbell
said, "Where the Scriptures speak, we speak; where the Scriptures are
silent, we are silent."
Second, we
commit to you that when we gather together in worship and study, we will
attempt wholeheartedly to make our time together relevant, fresh and
inspirational. Never will we get
together to just go through a routine or liturgy. Each worship service is to be an
"experience" where you connect with God, and
God ministers to your needs.
Third, we will
attempt wholeheartedly, to provide you and your family, with the best in
Christian programming, music and activities.
Fourth, with
our whole hearts we will attempt to minister to whatever needs you may have. If you will be active in the church and keep
us informed, we will do everything within our power to help and support you and
your family.
Questions? Ask!
Each of
our elders and staff members make themselves available to you for personal
consultation and counseling. If you have
